When we hear about cybersecurity most of the time we used to think that this definitely related to hacking someone's Mobile Phone, What's App, Facebook, Instagram or so many cool things immediately comes in our mind. When we are in college we used to take this (Cybersecurity) field to get away from coding. But in this blog we will decode this question and at last you will be completely clear about this question.
First of all let's understand that What Cybersecurity is? Cybersecurity is the domain which makes us learn to protect sensitive data from bad actors. I know you will not so much clear about that, let's break it down. This domain makes you learn about how to protect data from bad guys (Malicious Actor) who are stealing user's data.
Do we need coding for just protecting data if yes then HOW?

For answering this you must have to understand some of the things. Securing data not always require coding there number of types in securing data for example, Network Security, Data Security and many more. So, if you are doing Network Security or you are a Security Analyst you need coding but not that much there number of tools to understand and detect the attack happen on your network. But to protect that type of repetitively you need to write code. Code can do repetitive task many times with same procedure. There some fields like penetration tester here you need to learn code. In penetration testing you may need to write a code to inject inside server, file or any where in the computer for that you have understanding of coding.
Coding needed or not it depends on the type of job you are doing if you are fully in network domain so you may need less coding or if you are Pen tester field you need much coding so, it depends that what job you are selecting. Just explore the job roles and their responsibilities then you understanding will develop towards this question. Still, suggestion is you have strong foundation knowledge of some of the programming languages if you results to learn coding.
1. Python
2. C/C++
3. Bash Scripting
4. SQL
5. Java Script
6. Ruby
7. Perl
8. PHP
These programming language helps to while reading others code. At the time of Bug Hunting or Penetration Tester you might find the source code in any language so for understanding you need strong foundation. So, final answer is IT DEPENDS.
Hopefully you get some value from this reading.
Thank You
